Here's an interesting tip from CoolCatTeacher on how to take video from a DVD and rip it to your computer. Now you can use this video in MovieMaker or the like, manipulate it, and even post it to youtube.
What can you see doing with this. What fun videos could you make. What are the legal issues here?

I think this could not be good because no one would be buying DVDs the all would be renting the copying the DVD which could cause some issues with the movie industry
There are all types of programs avaliable so people can "rip" their dvds and play them on their computers or ipods. This could be a great opportunity for people to use their creativity and make hilarious and entertaining videos. But if one was to "rip" a dvd and put it up on youtube that would be in violation of copyright laws. So when is it considered illegal to "rip" dvds?
I also think this new discovery could cause financial issues in the movie industy because less and less people will be buying DVDs if they can watch the movies for free on the internet.
I think that it is a good idea because if you buy the DVD you should be able to put it on your computer or your iPod instead of buying it from iTunes when you already own the DVD. Its a good way to save money.
This is a good and bad idea. Like MNW said, you have the right to rip you DVD and put it on your computer, instead of buying it from Itunes. But putting it up on youtube can be a infringement on the Copyright issue. I think as long as you give the credit to the creators of the DVD, like your supposed to, it shouldn't be much of a problem in law. This would bring issues with movie industries like someone said earlier, but the U.S Supreme Court disagreed. If you follow This Link, Disney was against the sale of VHS recorders, but the U.S Supreme Court allowed the sale of it. So this idea has been going on since VHS tapes started.
Joe makes a great point, when does it become illegal to "rip" DVDs? its the same thing with music, people use Limewire and other programs to steal music. To me its like robbing an electronics store, stealing music and videos. Its wrong:(
Larry point is weird to think about. This whole thing really has been going on since VHS tapes. I hate how som things arent black and white, right and wrong, instead their are many shades of gray.
