Update your profile with a picture

Update your profile with a picture. It can be a picture you take of yourself (serious or goofy), or of something that you like to do, or even of your pets.

Then post your thoughts on internet privacy. What kind of information is ok to post? Were you weary of posting an actual picture of your face or were you very comfortable with it? When looking through your profile settings, did you add your email or your last name. Should you? Did you change your screen name?

Certainly posting your entire name, address, and social security number anywhere is STUPID! But on-line communities will become important to you. Whether it's a social network (facebook, myspace) or a professional network, these work best when there's a certain amount of sharing. What is too much sharing?

I have no problem posting my name, address, etc., but any networking site asking for your SSN is a scam. Besides, no one needs to know that. I post (a few) pictures of me without second thought, but then again, I'm not a party animal, and I don't have any crazy pictures.

I'm cool with adding most things to my profile. I stay away from putting up my address though, if someone wants it, they can come talk to me. I won't post that up anywhere but as for other things i'm fine with putting them up like pictures, email, screen names, etc.

I've had a picture on here since like, the very first day, so i'm obviously comfortable with it. I don't mind putting fun pictures all over my facebook and stuff like that. They're not usually super crazy, but then again, they're not normal either.

I agree with Evan and how he said that anything asking for your SSN is being too much information.

I disagree mostly with Evan. You definitely shouldn't post your SSN, but you shouldn't post your address or last name either. If people don't know that stuff already, then there obviously aren't close enough with you to need that already. Regarding the picture, as long as its a picture that doesn't reveal too much about you, I think it's safe to use.

I agree with Sam, obviously you should never post your SSN and I also dont think you should post your address or full name. I personally would want to know who im giving my address and not just go post it and show it off to the world.

When it comes to things like facebook I do not like putting up my address or phone number. But putting up pictures of my face are ok with me because I have my profile set up so only my friends can see my profile and no creepers can look at.
