So I've been wondering how videos could be used in school. When would they be appropriate. How would it look? How should school change to be more inline with the 21st century?
Think of an assignment you have been given in high school that would have been so much more fun and engaging if you had done a video instead of a paper or powerpoint presentation. Explain.
Or search youtube for something simliar. Here is an example of someone finding the area of a room. It's maybe not all that exciting as a video, but it sure beats creating a posterboard, don't you think? And here's one of some guys trying to understand velocity (but mostly crashing into the sidewalk). Did they learn anything?
What else besides creating videos should school do to make it more relevant to your life????

I think that we should use things such as youtube so that kids can take advantage of learning not just from their teacher but others around the world. I think that people dont want to use it is because they think that the teachers might just get lazy and let youtube teach their class
I agree with Luken, in a class such as chemistry where you are doing labs and trying to test or create a certain variable, a video on youtube could be very helpful. A video of the experiment could easily explain the results better than some sort of power point or paper.
I think a video presentation of a short story or novel for english would be much easier for kids to understand and follow over an essay or powerpoint.
I agree with Kyle. videos can help in school because they can explain things in ways that papers or power points cant.
