Doing Illegal Things on Internet = Jail

Here are some stories of people doing illegal things and getting trouble with the law. So be careful. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

1. The boy who hacked into Sarah Palin's email account, is looking at 2 years jail time. Yes, you can pay $100 to a Chinese company to get someone's email password. But that's like looking at someone's diary. It's just wrong.

2. There was this girl who harrassed her old boyfriend using a voice changing app for the phone, called Spoofing and got 15 months in jail. OK, it might be fun to play a prank on a friend, but this girl went overboard.

3. A college student was convicted of downloading music illegally and sentenced to 3 month jail and $5400 in fines.

Do you know of other tales-of-caution we should know about. Other things we should be careful not to do?

I dont think that Sarah Palin should be using a private e-mail account to conduct state business, because it would be easier to hack into a private email.

Wow, seriously now? Why in the world would you want to hack someone's email account? That's just plain stupid. Like come on now.
And what i really don't understand is if your in a business industry that's really high up, you shouldn't have a personal email account. That's why there's a thing called "sending stuff in the mail".

@ Joe Cossins
I think she shouldn't send anything important through a personal e-mail account. But she should be able to have a personal account for personal use.

How did the college student get $50 million worth of music and movies on his PC? Did he use the computer from WarGames or did he hijack Bill Gates' computer?

Joe Cossins: I think that joe has a good point...sarah palin should be using a private account.

I agree with Joe. Sarah Palin shouldn't be using just any e-mail, she should be using a private e-mail.

@Brittney

Who sends stuff in the mail anymore? The only things I get in the mail are college letters. But, I see what you mean. If you are such a prominent figure in society, you should realize that you can't have an everyday-person email account on sites such as yahoo or gmail.

Doesn't the government provide rather safe emails?

I thick people should be fined because of the illegal downloading.

That's ridiculous that that college student got fined $5,400 for possession of illegally downloaded music on his computer. There are millions of people who I'm sure are guilty of this, and they shouldn't be going after the leechers; they should be cracking down on the seeders and providers of the free tracks.

Illegal downloading on the internet isnt even that bad i mean yeah the "music maker" isnt getting all the money but they are losing like what? 5 cents? These fines just dont make any sense
