Students at Univ of Houston can take a class where they play Nintendo Wii. Ok, not just any game, they have to play Wii Fitness. And they have to play twice a week for 30 mins. But still, it's for college credit.
I guess the idea is to get more people moving and to hopefully entice them to try active things. So Wii yoga may encourage someone to take "real" yoga class.
Has anyone played Wii Fitness? What is it like? Do you actually work up a sweat?

I still don't get how standing on a little, white board can actually help you lose weight. If Nintendo really wanted people to stay fit, they would encourage them to go outside, rather than make them think they can lose weight standing on a box.
I have played wii fit before and it doesn't really feel like it does anything for you.
@Joe Cossins
I agree I have not played wii fit but I believe that there is not substitute for real exercise outside or on an exercise machine.
@SneakyShishkebob
I agree. What happened to actually exercising outdoors? Instead, we just stay crammed up in our houses running on treadmills or believe the nonsense that we can stay "fit" by virtually hula-hooping on a white box.
I really don't think playing wii will do anything for you, it's just like playing any other video game. All you do is move a little and I don't think it's enough to help you get active.
Ido not thicke that you can get college credit for playing a wii.
i dont think you should get college credit for playing wii.
its a game.
I wish I could get College credit for playing a game. Next they will be giving money out for people to play games.
wow! thats crazy. i dont think wii fit even does anything for you and now you can get collage creidt for it haha.
While i dont think wii will do anything 4 u i think it wouldnt be as much fun as a sport a sport gives u something 2 compete at so u have something 2 aim 4
@chrisk
i agree that playing a sport is much more fun and competitive unlike the wii and the wii will not help you in life to achieve.
I have an idea for staying fit while playing video games: Hook up an electric charging exercising bike to a computer with World of Warcraft or some other game so that the only way you can walk or run anywhere is to pedal. Addicts may have a really hard time though; after playing for a few hours, they wouldn't be able to feel their legs!
