That's pretty cool, but as far as practicality or originality is concerned, it's nothing ground-breaking. As fun as it is to watch, I seriously doubt that that 3D camera could hold most people’s attention for much more than five minutes. For originality’s sake, he’s using a controller whose main function is to play interactive, 3D games to create interactive, 3D games. He possibly has a future in game design with his ideas, but I’d be surprised if he created anything original and amazing; I’d love to be proven wrong.
I belive that Evan is right as far as the 3D camera because of the video thing they have for the PS2 wasn't very exiting and it had the same concept. Also I would also be surprised if he created something original because most of the ideas for the gaming controllers has been taken for the technology we have today. If he will create something original then he probably might make a good amount of money.
For a school environment this could be used to harness a cheap solution to the tablet pc's. For $50 you can turn any LCD monitor into 80% of a tablet.
You don't have to have a projector or whiteboard to harness the uses of the wiimote. You simply point the wiimote at your compute, and there you go, 80% of a tablet for 1/10th the price.

This technology is being used to harness an "in your face" video game. Where the game is not only in your telivision, its coming out at you and interacting with you in your own space. Check out some more video's on different uses of the mote;

I think that Evan is wrong. I think that what he is doing is oiginal because he is taking a 3D game controller and turning it into a way to give schools supplies that they could not normaly get because of the price. They can use a game controller to make a tablet for under 50$.
I also agree with Evan also about the 3D camera. Also though, on the video the guy drew on an interactive board with the remote, did you notice how big he wrote. I know from experience that you must use big motion with a Wii remote, which means you would have to write very large. This isn't very good because you would take up a lot of space on the board with you're writing.
I dont' really agree with you, Evan. Most people who are famous for their creations ddn't come up with the entire thing themselves; instaed thet used someone else's creation and transformed it into something better. I think its amazing what he did! i give him props!!

You don't have to write big at all. You can harness this technology and use it on many different screens. No matter what size, you don't have to write a certain size for the controller to pick up on the IR light.
The IR camera inside the wiimote picks up on the IR light in the pen and marks every pixel on the surface.
I disagree with Evan. I think even though they are using the current technoloy for other uses than gaming. Others can use this in order to base it on future and more useful technology even if it is not in gaming.
I agree with Chris, I find this very practical. School's can harness this technology which is very similar to today's tablets for a very small fraction of the price. Along with this our teachers wouldn't have to worry about losing their wireless connection in the middle of a class.

Using the Wii controller, I think is a good idea but I dont really think that is the greatest inprovised invetion out there. In the video the guy made it seem like it was the next biggest thing when it is just a neat little camera.
