Wikipedia in New York Times
Read this article on Wikipedia that appeared in the New York Times. What do you think? How do you use Wikipedia? How might this effect you?
I personally use wikipedia on research papers and such, but I check with what other sites have to say before I use the information. It's still a good source of information.
I do not believe it is "the biginnings of censorship" as some idiot said, but a person should not rely on only wikipedia as their source fro imformation.
I use sites like wikipedia a lot for research, but after finding out that anyone can post on the site im not to sure anymore. From now on i will probibly check with other web sites to see if the information was a correct source or not.
I use wikipedia to research different topics I need for school when I'm doing projects, It's not a really reliable source because anyone can put information on the website.
"First of all, the article gives me this error, "In order to access our Web site, your Web browser must accept cookies from NYTimes.com. More information." But other than that I use wikipedia to look up information for school projects and random things.
If you have problems getting to the article, then comment on How reliable is the information in Wikipedia. If it's not completely reliable, why do we use it so much?
Everyone so far has said Wiki does have oodles of information. I think everyone knows it should not be the only source one uses for projects. Many times the information on Wikipedia is incorrect and biased from people of many ideologies.
The infomation on Wikipedia is not very reliable because anyone can write whatever they want about things. Sometimes it can be true because anyone can come back and edit the infomation. We use it so much because it's easy to use and it's free. It's a lot easier to just look at wikipedia than it is to search around the internet.
Wiki's are really cool, but they don't always have the right info or the facts. You can find what you are looking for in Wiki, but make sure what you see is real.
wiki means quick in Hawaii, but I don't like wikipedia. It's not reliable. There are a lot of people who just say stuff to throw people off on purpose.
Wikpedia can be a valid source for anything if the site is utalized properly. If you take the time you realize that there are external sources on the bottom of the page that you can follow to find the valid information.

Wikipedia is a really good place to do re-search on papers, but like "tdog" said you shouldn't relay on it and should use other web pages too.
