History of Internet - Due 2/2
What was something that stuck in your mind when we discussed The History of the Internet. It could have been something you thought interesting, or fun, or stupid.
I thought it was interesting that there were 5 original super computers that got the internet started. Also, that Al Gore was not mentioned at all in the history, since he said that he created the internet.
"The USSR launches Sputnik, the first artificial earth satellite. In response, the United States forms the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) within theDepartment of Defense (DoD) to establish US lead in science and technology applicable to the military."
I thought it was interesting how the internet started with just 2 computers and over a few decades has grown to billions of computers. I believe it is also important to note that the first packet switching network was created by the DoD.
For me the most interesting thing was the part about Netscape and how they believed that Andreessen would be one of the richest men in the world even though he probably is very wealthy but it just shows that not everything turns out the way people think it will.
